Don’t be scared by Earth Fault Loop Impedance Compliance
Many contractors today are confused by this calculation and how to perform it let alone know when the solution complies or not. PowerPac will warn the user if there is an issue with Earth Fault Loop Impedance allowing them to make the necessary changes to the calculation to find a solution.
Earth Fault Loop Impedance a requirement
Since the release of AS/NZS 3000:2000 the electrical contractor is now responsible to ensure that in the occurrence of a phase to earth fault automatic disconnection of supply shall occur within the required time. Make sure you know that it will in your calculation
See AS/NZS 3000:2018 Clause 5.7.4 and Appendix B Clause B4
PowerPac will calculate this for you
PowerPac will calculate the actual Earth Fault Loop impedance based on the cable selection and WARN if this exceeds the maximum permissible. Maximum Earth Fault Loop permissible will be calculated from the selected protective device details entered.
